Biography

Prof. Dr. Javad Parvazi

Prof. Dr Javad Parvazi graduated from the University of Sheffield Medical School (MB, ChB) in 1991. Following the completion of his general surgery and orthopaedic surgery rotations at the same faculty between 1991 and 1992, he obtained his specialist qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1995. Between 1995 and 1997, he undertook a specialisation in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at Newcastle University.

Continuing his education in the United States, Dr Parvazi completed his specialist training in orthopaedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic between 1997 and 2002; during this period, he obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Orthopaedics from the Mayo Foundation. Between 2002 and 2003, he successfully completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Hip Society-Muller Foundation in Bern, Switzerland.

Dr Parvazi, who spent a significant part of his academic and clinical career at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, held the positions of Associate Professor and Professor at this institution between 2003 and 2023. With over 30 years’ experience in orthopaedic surgery, Prof. Dr. Parvazi has performed more than 10,000 joint replacements, over 2,000 hip joint preservation surgeries and more than 1,000 revision surgeries for infections throughout his career. Recognised as a world-renowned authority in his field with over 1,000 peer-reviewed articles and scientific publications, Prof. Dr. Javad Parvazi is currently serving as a Professor at Acıbadem University as of 2024 and continues his clinical work.
